Retrospectiva Maria Moreno 2026 MUREC, Estudio M Moreno.jpg

A retrospective exhibition of the work of the painter María Moreno is being presented for the first time. The Museum of Contemporary Spanish Realism (MUREC) in Almería is organising this solo exhibition, which traces the artist’s career from her formative years to the end of her career.

Through the exhibition, which features eighty drawings and paintings by Moreno, visitors can trace her artistic journey from her darker early works to her later, colourful and luminous paintings. It also showcases all the genres María worked in, from portraiture to cityscapes, still lifes and flower paintings.

It is a fine opportunity to view several of her works that have never before been exhibited in Spain, as they are held in European collections. To complement the exhibition, a small selection of works by her husband, Antonio López, in which Mari is the subject, is included.

The exhibition will be open from 12 June to 4 October 2026 at the MUREC in Almería.

El mundo que viene.jpg

On 19 June, Antonio López will take part in the conference *The World to Come*, organised by the Ibercaja Foundation at the Zaragoza Conference Centre. To mark its 150th anniversary, the foundation has organised two days of events designed as a meeting point between the past, present and future, with the aim of highlighting its achievements, recognising those who have been part of its history and initiating a shared reflection on the challenges ahead.

A meeting point for international leaders and voices that are already shaping the world to come. Building on dialogue and joint reflection, and transforming this into a shared, open, participatory experience that is connected to society.

Alongside Guillermo Solana, Artistic Director of the Thyssen Museum, Antonio López will discuss ‘Culture as a driving force for progress’ between 11.30 am and 12.15 pm.

Exposición Paralelos y Meridianos, Colección Iberdrola en el Museo de BBAA de Bilbao

After more than twenty years of collecting, Iberdrola is presenting part of its collection at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum in an exhibition entitled ‘Parallels and Meridians: The Iberdrola Collection’, marking the energy company’s 125th anniversary.

The exhibition features a selection of 138 contemporary pieces from the 400 that make up the collection. Among the works by contemporary Spanish artists is Jardín de Poniente 3, a painting by María Moreno from the year 2000. Furthermore, the exhibition opens with the two views of Bilbao, still in progress, which Antonio López is painting from the Iberdrola Tower.

The collection itself illustrates the company’s evolution and growth: first in the Basque Country, then expanding to the rest of Spain, and finally its internationalisation.

The exhibition will be open from 29 April to 30 August 2026. For further information, please visit the exhibition’s website via this link.
